W ostatnim meczu Turnieju o Puchar Gdyni, reprezentacja Polski zremisowała z Rosją 29:29. Tym samym zwycięzcami całej imprezy zostali niedzielni przeciwnicy biało-czerwonych. W spotkaniu z Rosjanami z dobrej strony zaprezentowali się Michał Jurecki – autor sześciu bramek oraz Tomasz Rosiński i Grzegorz Tkaczyk, którzy zdobyli po cztery gole.

Tkaczyk został zresztą wybrany MVP tego spotkania ze strony Polaków. W drużynie rosyjskiej najlepszy okazał się bramkarz Oleg Grams. Między słupkami polskiej bramki zabrakło Sławomira Szmala, który cały pojedynek - podobnie jak Mariusz Jurkiewicz - oglądał z trybun.

Spotkanie w pierwszej połowie było bardzo wyrównane, aczkolwiek po kwadransie delikatną przewagę osiągnęli Polacy. To właśnie wtedy prowadzili trzema golami – od 11:8 do 18:15. W tym momencie w grze gospodarzy coś się zacięło i Rosjanie zdołali doskoczyć na jedną bramkę. Pierwsza połowa skończyła się zwycięstwem Polaków 18:17.

Po przerwie Rosjanie niemal błyskawicznie wyrównali. W drużynie ze wschodu dominował prawy rozgrywający, Konstantin Igropulo, który w całym spotkaniu zdobył aż 9 bramek. Polacy zdołali ponownie wyjść na dwubramkowe prowadzenie, ale dość szybko dali sobie odebrać tę przewagę. A co gorsza, Rosjanie gospodarzom odskoczyli. W pewnym momencie na tablicy świetlnej było już 24:27. Na szczęście, dzięki walecznej grze, Polacy zdołali wyrównać. Ostatnia akcja należała do gospodarzy, ale podopieczni Bogdana Wenty nie zdołali zakończyć sytuacji celnym rzutem.

Z zawodników Vive Targi Kielce na parkiecie zaprezentowali się także Patryk Kuchczyński, Bartłomiej Tomczak i Mateusz Zaremba – wszyscy zdobyli po jednym golu.
